It is a sports car built in Coventry, England, between 1948 and 1954. It was made with three different body styles. The factory started with the roadster model in 1948. This was followed by the Fixed Head Coupe (FHC), produced from 1951. Production concluded with the Drophead Coupe (DHC) from 1953. The FHC and DHC versions were more luxurious. The XK '120' was named after the maximum speed it achieved during road tests, reaching 120 mph. Curiously, it is known that the first production roadster was sold to film actor Clark Gable. All of these XKs were really successful on the track and in rallies. This Jaguar XK120 FHC on display was initially sold to the American market. It later returned to England where it remained stationary still and partially disassembled waiting for a restoration that never happened.
In the early 90s, a Madeiran collector purchased the car and brought it to Madeira where it was properly restored between 1992 and 1993. João Noronha bought it about 20 years ago and has maintained the 90s style restoration.
