In the 1950s, in Portugal, owning a Borgward Isabella was a symbol of prestige and sophistication, as it surpassed, many other vehicles of the time in elegance.
The Borgwards were relatively uncommon vehicles when compared to the Volkswagens, Renaults or other vehicles imported from the United Kingdom.
The company went bankrupt in 1961, which makes the “surviving” vehicles very valued nowadays.
This vehicle was also the winner of the “XVI Volta à Ilha em automóveis clássicos da Madeira” in 2003. It was restored by the current owner in 2000.
