At first, it was a bicycle workshop, and then the company grew, standing out in the 1950s when it became a leader in the manufacture of motorbikes in Scandinavia.
The Tunturi 61 is a motorbike with a two-stroke engine, pedal assist, equipped with a PUCH engine (of Austrian origin) and dates from 1961.
It was owned by a Finnish citizen, called Arja Irmeli Heinnonen Rodrigues de Sousa, born in Tammisaari (Finland), wife of Engineer Luís Manuel Rodrigues de Sousa, who brought the YAMAHA brand to the Region. This was the motorcycle she used in her youth, in Finland, more precisely in the city of Uusikaupunki, located in the southwest of the country, about 75 km northwest of the city of Turku and approximately 230 km from the capital, Helsinki, allowing her to travel to school and then work.
The owner came to live in Madeira in 1955, and only in 1985 did she bring the motorcycle to the Region.
