The 1950 Triumph Mayflower, with registration number MD-25-68, belongs to Jaime Noel Pestana Correia.
It has been in the family for over 40 years. Bought by his father, it would later pass to a brother, until it became this car.
In 1990 he participated in the 3rd Raid Diário de Notícias. Over the years it has undergone three major repairs, the first of which after this race. The colour was even changed to two shades of grey, which ennobled the vehicle.
This is yet another vehicle that is associated with the 100th anniversary of "Triumph", which is celebrated this year.

The Triumph Mayflower is a British 4-seater vehicle known for its modern styling. It was built by the Standard Motor Company and sold by Standard's subsidiary The Triumph Motor Company. It was announced at the British International Motor Show, October 1949, but deliveries, including complete disassembled kits for international markets, did not begin until the mid-1950s.
One of 9 Triumph Mayflower prototypes, "X488", was factory tested for 5,000 miles across Europe in 1950, where they used the famous Imperia Automobiles rooftop test track in Belgium. The Mayflower was manufactured from 1949 to 1953. To be more specific, it started rolling off the assembly line on June 30, 1950.
The Mayflower's "upscale little car" position did not find a ready market and sales did not meet Standard's expectations. The company's next small car, the 1953 Standard Eight, was an entry-level 0.8-litre economy car.
The Mayflower was an attempt to create a small car with a luxury image, but it failed to reach its sales targets. Standard announced the Mayflower replacement in a press release in early February 1952. The announcement further stated that the replacement would likely not go on sale until 1953.
The Standard Eight, which replaced the Mayflower, had a base specification, and was aimed at a different type of buyer. Since the end of production of the Mayflower in 1953, there was no small sedan bearing the Triumph name available in the UK until the launch of the Triumph Herald in 1959. The Standard Ten sedan and Standard Companion estate were sold as Triumph in the US.
The Mayflower front suspension design was used on the prototype Triumph 20TS and, with modifications, on the Triumph TR2. In total, 35,000 Triumph Mayflowers were built.
